China issues eight BKS Iyengar stamps
The Chinese government released eight stamps featuring the Pune-based, internationally acclaimed yoga guru BKS Iyengar during the China-India yoga summit held in Guangzhou between June 17 and 19,2011.
The three-day summit which was held inside one of the gymnastics stadiums used for the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou saw the yoga guru teach yoga techniques to a total of 1,300 students, which comprised 950 Chinese and the rest, a mix of nationalities from across the world. The spirited, 92-year-old yoga guru displayed a child like enthusiasm when he recalled the three day event. He said, "Most of the students were below 30 years of age. This made me very happy as it proves that yoga is followed by the younger generation."
At the end of the three days, the Chinese students had tears in their eyes as they thanked Guruji for his lessons."

Sivoham - A Beautiful Story
One day, a wandering sadhu (monk) came upon a boy herding buffaloes. He was
hungry, and the boy readily obliged him with some milk. After
drinking milk to his satisfaction, the monk began to feel generous, and
asked the herdsman, 'What would you like? I'm feeling fine, I'll give
it to you.'
The boy laughed and said, “I really don't need anything. I do nothing
all day long but herd my buffaloes, and am fully satisfied with that.
Besides, Oh..Monk, you came to me as a beggar and I
gave you alms. How can I expect anything from you in
return? I am the giver, not you.'
The sadhu was taken aback by the reply, and realised that this was no
ordinary buffalo-herd. But still feeling expansive he
asked, 'What is it that you love most in the world?
'
'Why??!!!, this buffalo', the boy replied innocently, 'the
one whose milk you just drank. She is the largest I
have, she gives me 10 gallons of milk everyday, she is
broad and string, so loving and beautiful, I love her
best of all.'
'All right', said the sadhu, 'please do one thing. Go sit in that
cave and imagine that you are this buffalo. Think of her, keep her
picture in mind, completely self identify with her, become
her ! As you sit doing all this, repeat to yourself
"Bhaisoham, bhaisoham"(I am a buffalo, I am a buffalo). Don't
worry about a thing, I'll look after your
buffaloes.'
The herdsman did exactly as the sadhu said, and after
3 days when the sadhu entered the cave, he found
the boy sitting motionless with his eyes closed,
repeating, "Bhaisoham, bhaisoham".
The sadhu said, 'So young man, how have you progressed? Come out
now.'
Out came the reply, 'Don't call me a young-man! I am a
buffalo. Can't you see that? Look at my broad back! How
can I leave this small cave? My horns are too broad
to go thru the entrance. Now don't be foolish; go
away and leave me alone or I'll gore you and toss you
out with these beautiful horns of mine.'
But the sadhu persisted and said, 'Try to remember my boy, I
told you to sit and do this. Now, instead of repeating, "I am a
buffalo", start to identify with Shiva and repeat "Shivoham,
Shivoham"(I am Shiva, I am Shiva).'
The herdsman did that, and in about fifteen minutes he was in a deep
trance (samadhi). He realized his goal: The Universal Soul in the form
of Lord Shiva.
The sadhu was astonished. Tears came to his eyes and he said to
himself, 'This fellow sits only three and a half days and achieves
and I have wandered around practising without success for so many
years.'
Then he had to take that buffalo herd as his guru, and
finally the sadhu also realized.

Finding the Perfect Guru
A young man told Swami Sivananda: "I want to find the perfect Guru."
"Are you a perfect disciple?" questioned Swami Sivananda.
The answer shocked the young man, so he stammered: "No, Swamiji. I quite realize that I'm full of defects."
"Then how can you find out a perfect Guru? What right have you to judge the Guru when you yourself are so full of imperfections? Anyone will do for you at this stage. Go to any one of the Mahatmas (great master), serve them and learn." Swami Sivananda

Never Mind
- Never Mind the words of discouragement. They have been spoken deliberately to test your resolve.
- Never Mind the difficulties in life. They have been placed there to take you closer to god.
- Never Mind the critics. They are only trying to improve you and keep your pride in check.

Last Words Of Alexander - Value and truth Of Life
Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring at him on his face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.
He now longed to reach home to see his mother's face and bid her last adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit him to reach his distant homeland.
So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last. He called his generals and said, "I will depart from this world soon, I have three wishes, please carry them out without fail."
With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king's last wishes. "My first desire is", said Alexander, "My physicians alone must carry my coffin."
After a pause, he continued, "Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury".
The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute's rest and continued. "My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my coffin".
The people who had gathered there wondered at the king's strange wishes. But no one dared to bring the question to their lips. Alexander's favorite general kissed his hands and pressed them to his heart.
"O king, we assure you that all your wishes will be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?"
At this Alexander took a deep breath and said:
"I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt...
I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor on this earth can really cure anybody. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.
The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the path to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life in greed for Power, earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.
And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world".
With these words, the king closed his eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and took his last breath. . . .
Moral: Remember, your Health is in your own hands, look after it. Wealth is only meaningful if you can share and also enjoy . What you do for yourself, dies with you. But what you do for others will live forever. Leave the “Legacy” behind

Action-Habit-Character-Destiny
Thought moulds your character. If you entertain noble thoughts, you will develop a noble character; and if you entertain evil thoughts, you will develop a base character. This is the immutable Law of Nature. Therefore, you can deliberately shape your character by cultivating sublime thoughts. Thought materialises and becomes an action. If you allow the mind to dwell on good, elevating thoughts, you will do naturally good and laudable actions.
Conduct or behaviour reveals your character. Conduct also moulds your Character. Cultivation of good conduct needs rigorous discipline and constant vigilance. You will have to watch every thought, word and action. You must be extremely careful when you conduct yourself with others. With all your good intentions, you will be carried away by the force of your previous wrong impressions, instincts and impulses. Even highly educated people lack in behaviour. Good behaviour indicates that you have a refined or polished, disciplined mind and real, good spiritual culture. The practice of Japa, Pranayama and Mauna (or vow of silence) will help you to control the impulses etc.
You sow an action and reap a habit. You sow a habit and reap a character. You sow a character and reap your destiny. Hence, destiny is your own make-up. You have built it. You can undo it by entertaining noble thoughts, and doing virtuous actions, and changing your mode of thinking.
